Responsible for rebuilding and sustaining a vital theater program, from grades 6 to 12.

The Theatre at the Maria V Howard Arts Center, Rocky Mount, NC

The Art’s Center theatre, winner of the 2010 NCTC Community Theatre Award, has been part of the Rocky Mount community for more than 50 years. The theatre presents 4 main stage productions, a Christmas concert, and two children’s theatre productions. The new (five years old) facility is a state-of-the-art, 300 seat theatre.

 

Responsible for directing/producing the entire theatre season, managing the facility, and overseeing all outreach and youth programs:

 

• Manage an annual budget of $150,000+

• Initiate aggressive community outreach, audience development, and volunteer cultivation programs

• Supervise numerous projects and events (e.g. Tarside Tales, Don Dixon/Marti Jones in concert, Annual Christmas Chorus, Friends of the Arts Centre receptions)

• Direct Young Actors Theatre (ages 13-18) and Playshop (ages 8-12)

• Oversee professional design staff and numerous volunteers, including Friends Group

• Institute new house management/usher/volunteer training and supervision

• Adjunct Theatre Instructor Nash Community College
